You’ll Get Through This: Hope and Help in Turbulent Times, Max Lucado

This book was something I clung to in the darkest moments. Through the soothing words by Max Lucado, you can find assurance of truth when you are navigating hard times, bad decisions, trials or whatever you are facing.

Beyond Ordinary, Justin and Trisha Davis

When wondering if we were the only ones, a friend suggested this book to me. It simply gave me hope. It is a book discussing a couple’s story of infidelity and healing through the hope of Jesus. It can give you that same hope in the midst of despair.

Gay Girl Good God, Jackie Hill Perry

This is number one on my favorites list right now. It’s a story of how God changed a woman’s heart to align with his and it's a beautiful picture of how none of us are ever too far gone for him to forgive, love, and use for his eternal purposes!

A Case For Grace, Lee Strobel

Lee Strobel was once an Atheist, but is now Christian evangelist and author. This book is another favorite of mine! Strobel steps into the lives of numerous people who were radically changed by God’s amazing grace. He challenges the theory of any religion that doesn't save us by God’s grace and helps us to understand that God’s grace is tangible for us all!

The Tony Evans Bible Commentary, Tony Evans

I love this next one so much that I have gifted it to at least 5 people now. As a Christian writer, I love a good commentary but I have yet to find one as good as this! Easy to understand, Tony with all his natural speaking swag, gives his biblical interpretation for every scripture in the Bible. I treasure this book so very much!

Idol Lies, Dee Brestin

This is an interactive study book about Idolatry. I did this study at a time when I knew God was calling me away from things I shouldn't have in my life. I expected to feel convicted when I read it... And I was- but I also walked away feeling more loved than I had by anything or anyone in my entire life- and ultimately, understanding and accepting God’s grace. This book was a game-changer for me!

ABIDE Pray & Relax Meditation App, Daily Christian Mindfulness

Meditating is not just an Eastern religion practice. It’s mentioned frequently throughout the Bible. ABIDE is an app with guided meditations ranging from 5-15 minutes. Each one is centered on a specific scripture with guided questions and prayer to help you focus your thoughts and draw closer to God. It can be hard sometimes to stay focused in prayer when I’m writing or reading. Meditation takes practice, but it’s so worth the experience! I feel so much more rested and at peace throughout my day when I start out with dedicated quiet time to meditate on God’s word. It’s been incredibly rewarding, giving myself permission to sit still and alone with him.

Discerning the Voice of God, Priscilla Shirer

It’s easier said than done! But this book gives powerful advice on how to hear God’s voice through the noise and distractions of our busy lives.

Jesus Calling, Sarah Young

This devotional has been so wildly popular since its release, the Young has written many more devotionals in the series. The original has been my go-to for years. I’ve “worked” through it more than once!

Made to Crave, Lysa Terkeurst

While this book addresses our need for food to comfort feelings of emptiness, I can relate so much to the search for something to fill a void we often feel, but can only be filled by God.
